Mission & Overview
The mission of The NALP Foundation for Law Career Research
and Education is to improve the quality and delivery of
legal services by advancing:
- excellence in strategic and practical organizational
leadership;
- effective management of legal personnel;
- professional development of lawyers;
- access to and diversity within the profession; and
- ethical practices and professionalism.
The Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization,
was created in 1996 to ensure that the legal community
and society at large have a reliable, objective, affordable
source of information. The support of leading law schools,
legal employers, corporations, and individuals throughout
the legal community has enabled The Foundation to fulfill
that essential role.
The Foundation has taken the lead on projects of importance
to the profession, including initiating the first longitudinal
study of lawyer careers (After the
JD: The First 10 Years), providing benchmark research
on associate retention, and documenting attorney contributions
to public service.
