Howard Ellin is a global co-head of Skadden's Corporate Transactions and Mergers and Acquisitions practices in New York, where he also serves as the firm's global hiring partner. 


He focuses on a wide variety of transactions involving various industry groups and sectors, including private equity and leveraged buyouts, public and private acquisitions, corporate restructurings and financings, and general corporate advice. His clients have included Apax Partners, Dubai Aerospace Enterprise, Express Scripts, IBM, News Corporation and Univision, among others. In addition, Howard represents companies in their dealings with private equity firms in going-private transactions.


Howard was named as one of The American Lawyer's 2019 Dealmakers of the Year and repeatedly has been selected for inclusion in Chambers Global, Chambers USA, Legal 500 US, Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America and IFLR1000.  He was also named to the Best Lawyers in America 2020 and was included in Variety's Dealmakers Elite New York in 2018. He serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Mellon University.


Howard received his BS from Carnegie Mellon University and his JD from Harvard Law School.
